Fresh lemons and strawberries are grilled in this delicious recipe twist on strawberry lemonade, perfectly refreshing for summer BBQs!
Ever since I completed my Balcony Makeover a couple of weeks ago, all I’ve wanted to do is hang out on the balcony and grill EVERYTHING!
Seriously, 8 out of 10 new recipes posted this week, or coming in the next two weeks on the blog, are grilled! I can’t be stopped, must grill everything… including lemonade!
Oh yes I did! And, let me tell you, this lemonade is life changing!
No seriously, you will never be able to drink “regular” lemonade again. Grilling your lemonade is a total game changer!
Ok, so you don’t actually grill the lemonade, but you basically grill everything that goes into it!
Grilling the lemons and strawberries makes them juicer, sweeter and more flavorful, thus giving you the best lemonade ever!
Grilled Strawberry Lemonade Ingredients
- 12 lemons
- 1 ½ cups sugar
- 1 lb strawberries
- 4 cups water (divided)
- ice
Grilled Strawberry Lemonade Instructions
Preheat the grill to medium. Slice the lemons in half. Place ½ cup of sugar in a shallow bowl. Dip each lemon, cut side down in the sugar.
Place on the grill cut side down for 5-6 minutes.
Remove from the grill and set aside to cool.
Remove the stems and hull all of the strawberries, then roll them in the same bowl of sugar as the lemons. Skewer the strawberries and place on the grill for 5-6 minutes, turning throughout the grilling process.
Remove from the grill and set aside to cool.
In a medium saucepan combine the remaining 1 cup of sugar with 2 cups of water, place on the stove over high heat and bring to a boil. Cook until all of the sugar has been dissolved creating simple syrup. Remove from the heat and set aside to cool.
Juice all of the lemons into a large bowl.
Once the simple syrup is cooled, place it in a blender with the grilled strawberries.
Blend into a puree.
Add this mixture to the lemon juice with an additional 2 cups of water. Place in the refrigerator to chill. Add ice before serving.
If you could put summer in a glass, this Grilled Strawberry Lemonade would be it!
And if you feel like your “glass of summer” needs a little kick, replace one cup of water with one cup of citrus vodka, and voila, super summer cocktails are served!
Now it’s time to take this party on the patio!
