Ingredients

  • Refrigerated canned biscuits – any 16 ounce can of unflavored biscuits will work for this recipe.
  • Unsalted butter
  • Pepper jack cheese – I recommend grating your own cheese as home, as it melts better, but a bag of pre-shredded cheese will also work. If you want something more mild, you can use Monterrey Jack or cheddar cheese, instead of pepper jack.
  • Chicken wing seasoning – buffalo sauce + chicken wings are a match made in heaven, so in this recipe, I seasoned these buffalo chicken rolls with my favorite chicken wing dry rub. Click the link to the left to grab the recipe. It’s made with 6 simple ingredients, that are probably already in your pantry, including salt, chili powder and garlic powder. You can also find buffalo seasoning online, or in the spice aisle at most major grocery stores, if you prefer not to make your own.
  • Cooked, shredded chicken – the chicken can be pulled from a rotisserie chicken, purchased at the grocery store, or you can make Instant Pot Shredded Chicken to use in this recipe.
  • Buffalo sauce – I love Frank’s RedHot Buffalo Wing Sauce, but feel free to use your favorite brand of buffalo hot sauce.

Pro tips

  • Make sure that the chicken is finely shredded and mixed in well with the biscuit dough. If the chicken isn’t shredded fine enough, it could make the rolls fall apart when removed from the muffin tin.
  • To make this recipe vegetarian, omit the shredded chicken. The spices, cheese and buffalo sauce tossed with the biscuit dough are enough to make these rolls incredibly flavorful and delicious!
  • Easily double this recipe for a large gathering, like Super Bowl Sunday. Simply hover over the “servings” in the recipe card below and change it from 12 to 24 rolls. This will automatically update the ingredient amounts in the recipe card.
  • Make sure to pull apart the pieces of biscuit dough before tossing them with the butter, cheese and spices, so that each side gets coated in the flavorful ingredients.
  • Store leftover pull-apart rolls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 7 days. To reheat leftover rolls, place them in an air fryer basket and air fry at 400°F for 3 minutes, or in the microwave for 30-60 seconds.
