One of my first forays into cooking with coffee was almost two years ago when I created this Coffee Crusted Tri Tip.

I decided that it was about time that my steak had a friend… aka a side dish, to match it’s amazing coffee deliciousness!

That’s when these scrumptious Brown Sugar Coffee Baked Beans came to be!

I took my Dad’s baked bean recipe that I grew up with and loved, and gave it my own little coffee twist!

The result was a side dish absolutely worthy of being friends with my Coffee Crusted Tri Tip!

Brown Sugar Coffee Baked Beans Ingredients

  • 2 (15 oz) cans pork and beans
  • ½ cup onion (diced)
  • ½ cup bbq sauce
  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup strong brewed coffee*
  • 2 slices bacon (diced)

*I french pressed 2 tbsp coffee with 1 cup of water.

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Add the pork and beans, onions, bbq sauce & brown sugar to an oven-safe bowl or dish.

Add the coffee.

Add the bacon and stir to combine.

Place in the oven for 1 hour.

Don’t worry if the beans seem like they have a lot of sauce. Just use a slotted spoon to serve the beans, then dip some nice, toasty bread in the sauce to soak it up… at least that’s what I did… because the sauce is awesome!!!

It’s brown sugar, coffee & bacon, come on people, YUM!
