This easy Italian 5 layer dip recipe combines garlic hummus, basil pesto, tomato bruschetta & Italian cheeses for a delicious, gluten free party appetizer!
Every time I share a dip recipe, I feel the need to quote the classic 90’s song, “When I dip, you dip, we dip!” And dip we will with this Italian 5 Layer Dip!
I love this dip because it can be as simple or as homemade as you would like!
Roasted garlic hummus, basil pesto and tomato bruschetta can all be easily found packaged at the grocery store or simply made using the recipe links below.
I like to buy the hummus and basil pesto, (if I can find it fresh in the deli section at my grocery store) then make my famous tomato basil bruschetta to go on top.
And you all know this isn’t the first time I’ve topped a dish with this Tomato Basil Bruschetta. Yeah, I’m talking about you Bruschetta Grilled Chicken Zoodle Bowls, with over 4.8 MILLION views on Facebook! And we can’t forget about the party favorite, Bruschetta Baked Brie!
How do you make 5 Layer Dip?
In a medium bowl or serving dish, spread a layer of roasted garlic hummus, then top with a layer of basil pesto and a layer of ricotta cheese mixed with fresh basil. Top the dish with tomato bruschetta and grated parmesan cheese.
What to serve with Italian 5 Layer Dip?
I like to serve the dip with pita chips and red and green bell pepper slices.
The bell peppers are great for those that are gluten free or on a low carb diet, as the dip itself is both gluten free and low carb.
One of my favorite party tricks is to set up a “Dip Bar” with 4-5 dips and a variety of chips, bread and veggies for dipping.
It’s always a hit and something that can easily be set up ahead of time.

Italian 5 Layer Dip
Ingredients
- 1 cup roasted garlic hummus, click link for homemade recipe
- 1 cup basil pesto, click link for homemade recipe
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- ¼ cup fresh basil, chopped
- 1 cup tomato basil bruschetta, click link for homemade recipe
- ½ cup parmesan cheese, grated
Instructions
- Layer the hummus in the bottom of a bowl or small casserole dish.
- Layer the basil pesto on top.
- Combine the ricotta cheese & fresh basil, then layer on top of the pesto.
- Top the dip off with the tomato bruschetta and parmesan cheese.
- Serve the dip with chips, crackers or vegetables for dipping.

I mixed a bit of panko bread crumbs with the grated Parmesan and baked it for about 20 minutes, it was amazing! Huge hit!
