The Juicy Lucy “AKA Jucy Lucy” is a hamburger made with cheese inside the burger patty. Adding chopped bacon to the ground beef patty makes these the most juicy burgers ever!
Add my Dad’s Famous BBQ Baked Beans and a Bacon Tomato Avocado Pasta Salad on the side of this burger recipe for a complete, delicious meal!
Today’s post is sponsored by my friends at Cabot Cheese.
Today I’m combining two of my favorite cheeseburger recipes. A cheeseburger stuffed with cheese and a cheeseburger that consists of both ground beef and chopped bacon. You’ll never eat another burger recipe again!
The chopped bacon in the burger patty adds so much flavor and juiciness to the burger. While the cheese stuffed inside the burger is like a wonderfully cheesy explosion in your mouth!
I used Cabot Seriously Sharp Cheddar to stuff these burgers, because it’s seriously THE BEST! The flavor of the cheese paired with the salty, flavorful ground beef bacon burger patties is just incredible.
You can add your favorite burger toppings, but honestly, you don’t even need to! This burger can stand alone on a bun with a little drizzle of mustard or ketchup and nothing else.
You can grill the burger or cook it on a skillet on the stove. Either way, you’re going to fall in love with this juicy lucy burger recipe at first bite!
It’s perfect for 4th of July and summer BBQ’s, but also easy to make inside on the stove year round. It’s made in under 30 minutes, so it’s great for an easy weeknight meal that both kids and adults will love!

Step by step instructions
- Make the burger patties.
- Combine ground beef, finely chopped bacon, Worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper in a large bowl.
- Divide this mixture into 8 patties.
- Quick Tip! Slightly freeze the bacon first, 30-60 minutes in the freezer will do. This will make the bacon easier to finely chop. You can also ask your butcher to grind bacon for you.
- Make the juicy lucy burgers.
- On a cutting board, flatten the 8 burgers into thin patties.
- Place ¼ cup of shredded Cabot Seriously Sharp cheddar cheese in the middle of 4 of the patties.
- Place the other flatten patties on top of the other burger patty topped with cheese.
- Crimp the edges of the hamburger patties together to tightly seal in the cheese.
- Cook the burgers.
- Heat a grill or skillet on the stove over medium heat.
- Quick Tip! If using a skillet on the stove, I highly recommend a cast iron skillet. If you don’t have a cast iron skillet, use another heavy bottomed skillet, if available.
- Add the burgers and grill for 6-8 minutes, flip and grill for an additional 6-8 minutes.
- Heat a grill or skillet on the stove over medium heat.
- Serve the burgers.
- Place the grilled burgers on toasted buns or lettuce wraps.
- Add your favorite toppings, like lettuce, tomato, pickles and onion.
- Drizzle with your favorite sauce like ketchup, mustard or bbq sauce.
- Or simply serve them plain!
How do you make hamburger patties stay together?
The crimping of the two burger patties along the edges is key. This will help keep the hamburger patties together and keep all the cheesy goodness inside the burger!
How do you keep homemade burgers moist?
The bacon fat will release into the burger as it’s cooked, making this burger so incredibly moist and flavorful. The Worcestershire sauce is also added for both moisture and flavor.
Are Juicy Lucy burgers keto?
Served without the hamburger bun, each Juicy lucy burger patty contains less than 1 carb. This makes these burgers perfect for those on a low carb or keto diet.
