Philly Cheesesteak Frito Pie

To make this delicious dish, you only need one skillet, one pot and 29 minutes!

Start by cooking diced bell peppers, onions and mushrooms with ground beef, salt and pepper in a skillet on the stove over medium heat.

Add heavy cream, provolone cheese, cream cheese, salt and pepper to a pot over medium heat to make the sauce.

Plate the Frito pie by dividing the Fritos between four plates, then topping with the cooked beef and peppers, and a spoonful of provolone cheese sauce.

Philly Cheesesteak Frito Pie

Philly Cheesesteak Frito Pie is a fun twist on the southern dish, Frito Chili Pie. Ground beef, bell peppers, onions and mushrooms are cooked together and served over Fritos, topped with a creamy provolone sauce for one easy and epic recipe!

Ingredients

Philly Cheesesteak Frito Pie

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 cups green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 cup onion, diced
  • 1 cup portobello mushrooms, diced
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 9.75 oz bag Fritos corn chips

Provolone Cheese Sauce

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 8 oz provolone cheese, grated
  • 4 oz cream cheese, cubed
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper

Instructions

  • Add the butter to a large skillet on the stove over medium heat. 
  • Once melted, add the bell pepper, onion and mushrooms, cook 4-5 minutes, then and the ground beef, salt and pepper, cook 5-7 minutes or until the beef is cooked through.
  • In a separate saucepan on the stove over medium heat, add all of the ingredients for the provolone cheese sauce. 
  • Stir continuously until the cheese is melted into a thick sauce.
  • Divide the Fritos between four plates, top the fritos with the philly cheesesteak ground beef mixture, then spoon the provolone cheese sauce on top.
