Traditional nachos are given a Greek twist in this recipe that tops pita chips with chickpeas, sun dried tomatoes & lots of great Greek flavors!

The holiday season is officially here and if you’re looking for a fun new twist on a classic appetizer to share at your holiday party, you’ve just found it!

Greek Nacho Recipe

Nachos, the cheesy, delicious dish, we all know and love, piled high with toppings such as meat, jalapeños and salsa, has now been given a Greek twist!

That’s right, I took some of my favorite Greek ingredients, such as kalamata olives, sun dried tomatoes, chickpeas and feta cheese, and piled them up on top of crispy pita chips and muenster cheese!

If you want to get really authentically Greek, look for kaseri cheese, it’s a Greek cheese that’s great for melting… on something like nachos! 😉

If you can’t find that in your local grocery store (I had no luck at mine) then muenster is a great option as well (and probably much easier to find!)

Greek Nachos Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • ½ cup sun dried tomatoes
  • ½ cup capers
  • 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas
  • 1 (6 oz) bag pita chips
  • 2 cups kaseri  or muenster cheese (shredded)
  • ¼ cup tzatziki sauce
  • ¼ cup feta cheese (crumbled)
  • ¼ cup kalamata olives
  • ¼ cup green onions (diced)

Greek Nachos Instructions

Preheat the oven to 325°F.

Add the olive oil to a large skillet over medium heat. When hot, add the garlic to the oil and saute 1-2 minutes, then add the ground turkey. Cook through, then add the oregano, salt and pepper.

Add the sun dried tomatoes, capers and chickpeas. Mix everything together, reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5-7 minutes.

Arrange the pita chips in a single layer on a large oven-safe plate or baking sheet.

Top with the turkey mixture, then sprinkle the shredded muenster cheese over the top.

Place in the oven until the cheese is melted, 5-10 minutes.

Drizzle the tzatziki sauce over the nachos. Top with the feta cheese, olives and green onions.
