Delicious Hawaiian Pizza is easy to make at home! This recipe is topped with a scrumptious homemade Sriracha Pizza Sauce that will instantly become a new family favorite!
Pizza might just be the greatest food ever created. It’s carbs, sauce and cheese, plus a variety of delicious toppings all combined in one dish!
Starting a pizza recipe with a delicious dough and scrumptious sauce is the key to a great pizza. I love experimenting making different pizza sauces. The Three Cheese Jalapeno Ranch sauce that I created for this Jalapeno Sausage Pizza is an all time favorite. But this Sriracha Pizza Sauce is now tied for first!
Growing up, one of my favorite pizza restaurants in Oklahoma was Hideaway Pizza. I would always order their “Maui Magic”, a pizza topped with pineapple chunks, mandarin oranges and Canadian bacon.
This recipe is my adaptation of that delicious pizza! In this version, I added homemade Sriracha pizza sauce and swapped out the Canadian bacon for prosciutto.
The spiciness of the sriracha pizza sauce pairs perfectly with the sweetness of the pineapple and mandarin oranges. If mandarin oranges on a pizza is just too weird for you, they can always be left off. Already have ham at home? Use that in place of the prosciutto.
But for the love of Sriracha, take a little time before preparing the pizza to make this sriracha pizza sauce! The recipe makes enough for 3 pizzas. Save extra sauce in the fridge or freezer to make delicious pizzas over and over!

How to make Sriracha Pizza Sauce
- Pour olive oil into a large stock pot or dutch oven over medium heat.
- Add minced garlic and saute for 1 minute. A
- dd tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, tomato paste, sriracha and honey.
- Sprinkle salt, oregano and crushed red pepper into the pot.
- Stir all of the ingredients together and bring to a simmer.
- Cover, reduce the heat to low and simmer for 20 minutes.
- Immediately add the pizza sauce to a pizza recipe, or store it in sealed containers in the refrigerator or freezer until ready to use.
Pizza sauce can be store in the refrigerator for up to one week. It can also be stored in the freezer for up to 3 months. I like to store the sauce in pint size mason jars, which equals two cups of sauce. This is the exact amount needed for a pizza, so you only defrost what you need per pizza.
Now let me be honest with you, two cups makes for a pretty saucy pizza. I LOVE a saucy pizza! If you want to go lighter on the sauce, store the pizza sauce in half pint mason jars. This equals exactly one cup of sauce per jar and is also perfect for making smaller pizzas.
Always make sure when freezing liquids in glass jars to leave 3/4 inch open at the top of the jar. This allows the liquid to expand without breaking the glass.
While this recipe makes the perfect Hawaiian pizza sauce, it’s also great on other types of pizza as well. This is my go-to pizza sauce recipe. I always have it around and use it for homemade pizza all the time with a variety of different toppings!

Frequently asked questions
- What kind of pizza dough should I use? I’ve used both homemade pizza dough and store-bought pizza dough to make this recipe. For store-bought, I buy a refrigerated can of Pillsbury pizza dough.
- Why do they call it Hawaiian pizza? The pizza isn’t actually from Hawaii, it originated in Canada. They called it Hawaiian pizza because of the Hawaiian pineapple being used on the pizza.
- Does Hawaiian pizza have pork? Yes, the pizza is traditionally topped with ham, either cubed or thinly sliced. I topped this pizza recipe with prosciutto, which is Italian ham. The ham or prosciutto can be left off for a vegetarian pizza.
- How do you reheat the pizza? The pizza can be reheated in the microwave or in the oven. For a crispier crust, reheat it under the broiler in the oven on low for 5 minutes. You can also reheat it in the microwave for 1-2 minutes.
