Roasted jalapeños & honey make a delicious marinade in this simple recipe for Carne Asada Sliders, topped with spicy cheddar cheese & guacamole!
I’m so excited to share this scrumptious new recipe while also introducing sweet & spicy Jalapeño Rolls, the newest product from my friends at King’s Hawaiian!
I literally thought that King’s Hawaiian sweet, melt-in-your-mouth Hawaiian rolls could not get any better, until they introduced Jalapeño Rolls!
Say what?! Combining sweet & spicy flavors is one of my favorite things to do, and King’s Hawaiian just did it in the best possible way!
I knew that I wanted to create a delicious recipe for the upcoming Cinco De Mayo holiday with these tasty new rolls, so I decided to keep the sweet & spicy flavor profile going with roasted jalapeño & honey marinated carne asada!
The carne asada was so flavorful, topped with a little spicy cheddar cheese & fresh guacamole on the King’s Hawaiian Jalapeño Rolls, pure perfection!
Carne Asada Sliders Ingredients
- 2 jalapeños
- 4 garlic cloves (diced)
- ¼ cup olive oil
- ¼ cup honey
- 1 tbsp lime juice
- 1 tsp cumin
- ½ tsp kosher salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 lb flank or skirt steak (fat trimmed)
- 12 Kings Hawaiian Jalapeño Rolls
- 1 cup spicy cheddar cheese (shredded)
- 1 cup guacamole
Carne Asada Sliders Instructions
Begin by roasting the jalapenos, either on the grill or under the broiler in the oven.
Once the skin on the jalapeños is black and bubbling, remove from the heat and place in a plastic bag. Zip close and set aside for 5-10 minutes. Remove from the bag and peel the skin from the jalapeños.
De-stem and seed the jalapeños, then place in a blender or food processor with the garlic cloves, olive oil, honey, lime juice, cumin, salt and pepper. Blend until smooth.
Place the steak in a casserole dish and pour the marinade over the steak.
Cover and place in the refrigerator to marinate for 1 hour.
Remove from the refrigerator and grill the steak over medium heat for 7-10 minutes per side. Remove from the grill and let rest for 5 minutes. Slice the steak against the grain.
Distribute the steak among the bottom halves of the King’s Hawaiian Jalapeno Rolls. Sprinkle cheese over the steak.
Place the sliders back on the grill to melt the cheese over the steak. Place the top of the rolls on the grill to toast.
Remove from the grill and top with the guacamole.
The guacamole recipe is up to you, but I highly recommend this Grilled Pineapple Tomatillo Guacamole to add to the sweet, spicy, grilled flavor of these sliders!
So much deliciousness in one little dish, can’t wait to grill these up all summer long!

These are AWESOME! Jalapeno hawaiian rolls?? OH MAN, so want to try them! I love that you used honey in the marinade. A little sweetness would be great balance with the spicy jalapeno!
