Instructions
Combine the coffee, brown sugar, salt, pepper, rosemary and fennel seeds in a small bowl.
Brush 1 tbsp olive oil on the flank steak, then rub with the coffee spice mix.
Heat a grill to medium high.
Rub the onions with the remaining 1 tbsp olive oil, then grill for 2-3 minutes per side.
At the same time, add the steak to the grill for 4-6 minutes per side.
Remove the steak from the grill and place on a cutting board, immediately brush the steak with ¼ cup of the King’s Hawaiian Kona Coffee BBQ sauce.
Let rest for 5-10 minutes, then thinly slice.
Before turning the heat off on the grill, place the sub rolls on the grill inside face down for 2-3 minutes to toast.
Remove from the grill and spread the garlic herb goat cheese on the bottom of each roll.
Place the sliced steak on top of the goat cheese.
Drizzle the additional BBQ sauce on top of the steak, then top with the grilled and crispy onions.
Place the top bun on the steak sandwich and dig in!
